When a device runs Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), we can monitor it using System Center. For every situation it is possible to create a tool that will enable the hardware to function within the System Center products.
A tool that we created ourselves is the Call Script Manager. This tool is used for dealing with first line service desk calls that are registered in Microsoft System Center Service Manager. With the Call Script Manager, anyone can register a call or incident, because the Call Script Manager will guide the service desk analyst through predefined screens.
Every service desk has to deal with a constant stream of calls and incidents, and these calls have to be registered according to a predefined structure. Using the Call Script Manager, the screens, which can be adjusted to suit the needs of every service desk, can be placed in logical order. The service desk analyst simply has to follow the instructions on the screen to create the perfect call, that, should the problem escalate, follows the company guidelines to a tee. A perfect example of how tooling can streamline company operations.
